Southing refers to the south-caing hillside bluffs found on the Sea Smoke estate vineyard. Sea Smoke is the Pacific Ocean marine layer fog that covers the Pinot Noir hillside vineyards. The north/south rows gather precious sunlight, resulting in this world class Pinot noir. The exceptional site features southern exposure, rich clay soils, low crop yields, and the cool microclimate fo the Santa Ynez River canyon, producing the premium Pinot Noir grapes in this Sea Smoke wine.
Each year, the goal for Southing is to create an ideal marriage of complexity and elegance. The ever-changing nose of the 2014 Southing exhibits Montmorency cherry, baking spice and dried flowers. The fine tannins and minerality are enhanced by the estate vineyard’s characteristic cool climate acidity. Customize this wine and give it as a gift to a wine lover!
