Dunn Napa Cabernet Sauvignon

The 2019 Cabernet Sauvignon (Napa Valley) is a robust, tannic wine. Unlike some other vintages, this one isn't as accessible. Layers of tannin envelop dark fruit, gravel, spice, dried flowers, lavender, and charred earth. Firm, chocolaty tannins bind these flavors together. This intense and powerful Cabernet needs a few years to mellow. The 2019 vintage is undoubtedly a powerhouse. Rating: 93+ by Vinous, Antonio Galloni

Dunn Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon is a standout wine that embodies the essence of Napa Valley. Founded by Randy Dunn in 1979, Dunn Vineyards has built a reputation for creating exceptional Cabernet Sauvignon wines that are both powerful and elegant. The vineyard is situated on Howell Mountain, an area known for its unique volcanic soil and high elevation, which contribute to the intense flavors and firm structure of the grapes.

Dunn Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon is known for its deep, dark fruit flavors, including blackberry and cassis, complemented by hints of spice, dried flowers, and a touch of earthiness. What sets this wine apart is its balance and purity, showcasing the natural characteristics of the fruit without being overly manipulated. The wine is full-bodied with a smooth, velvety texture and fine-grained tannins that provide structure and aging potential.

Although it can be enjoyed after a few years of aging, this Cabernet truly shines with extended cellaring, developing more complexity and depth over time. It's a wine that can easily age for 20 to 30 years if stored properly. Dunn Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon is a wine that is often overlooked in the crowded space of cult Napa Cabernet Sauvignon, however it can be said that Dunn is one of the originals who never changed its winemaking style since the late 70's.
