WhistlePig 18 Year Double-Malt is the oldest expression in the WhistlePig lineup. It gets the Double-Malt designation from its unusual mash bill: 79% rye, 15% malted rye, and 6% malted barley. Using both unmalted and malted rye in the same whiskey was a historical practice that most distilleries dropped when industrial grain processing took over. WhistlePig revived it here.
The farm and distillery are in Shoreham, Vermont. This expression is aged 18 years in American oak and bottled at 50% ABV (100 proof).
Tasting notes: toasted oak, berries, and nutmeg on the nose. The palate is sweet and aromatic, mildly fruity and floral with vanilla. Long, clean, spicy finish.
Available with custom laser engraving on the bottle.
Note: Liquor cannot be shipped to Alabama, Connecticut, Delaware, Mississippi, Texas, or Utah.
